My G-G-G- Grandfather was a Valentin or Valentine Kern. His father was Jacob and they moved from Maryland to Ohio. The Kern named changed sometime, and some took the name Karn or Kern. I have found both names in the family. I don't know where your Valentin died or was buried but mine was buried in Ohio.
