No, but I hope to have that information in about two weeks after a visit to the Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO. While in the Hobart Library last summer I copied a page that indicated that Henry E. Kern was the last principal of schools in "District 1" of Hobart, IN in Lake County in the 1880's. I have come across several possibilities to identify his parents, but need to make a firm connection. Also, I am looking into the possibility that his (first) wife, Ellen (Higgins) Kern survived to 1950. I should have a definitive answer within a few days.
