The reason for my correspondence is your name - Kerns and your apparent familiarity with Virginia (perhaps as a resident).
For many years, at least since my mother-in-law was alive in the 1980's, we have attempted to unravel the early history of her family, the Keirns. I have tried to discover what happened to Jonathan Keirns (1761-bf 1850) after he and his family moved to Sandy Creek Virgina about 1810. He was a British soldier during the Revolutionary War and married Catherine Kenter in Pennsylvania in either 1781 or 1791. I have quite a bit more information on succeeding generations. He died in Virginia and his wife moved on to Ohio. My wife is the ggg granddaughter of Jonathan and Catherine Keirns. Her lineage is Jonathan, John (1791/94-1870), Samuel (1845-1926), Vena (1904-1988) and my wife, Sue. Does the early lineage of Kerns in the colonies include someone named Jonathan?
