Al Dawson in Iowa City. Seeking others researching William and Elizabth KERN
in Iowa. I find them in Black Hawk County (Washington Township, Post Office:
Cedar Falls) in 1860 census, p. 113.
William in 51, farmer, born VA.
Elizabeth 38, born VA
eleven children! seven born in IN, four born in IA (indicating move to Iowa
was c. 1854)
Margaret C (18), William S. (17), James D (15), Lucinda E. (13), Jerome (11)
[later killed according to cemetery information, by unknown assassin], Salome
(10), Anson (9)
then the Iowa kids:
Jacob (6), Nicholas (3) [he is my main concern, as he is the
great-grandfather of a friend, Nick later was a police officer in Denver
(Bremer County) Iowa. Lived to be 90!], Eve (1) and Adam (1) - presumably
twins.
