Hi. The information I have is sketchy but here it goes. My maternal grandmother was born on July 27, 1911. Her mother died in childbirth. All my family knows is that my greatgrandmother's last name was Kern. I believe she might have been born in New York. My grandmother Elizabeth went to live with her maternal great aunts in New York City but after a few years was adopted by a man named Hamilton (last name) who said that he was her father. She moved with him to Elmont, Long Island where she grew up. We cannot locate any birth records as my grandmother said they were destroyed in a fire. My grandmother died in Feb. 1996. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
