Did any of your Kerns wind up in Cook Cty, Chicago, IL? I am researching a John Kern also. My John Kern was from Bavaria. Not sure where the heck Bavaria was! He had an Uncle named Casper Kern who came over with him around 1855. He also had a sister named Margaret.

I have seen a bunch of people named "Johannes" and I am assuming that they went by "John" after emigrating. Have you come across this.
