HI LORAINE,

My Grandfather, WILLIAM KERN lived in New Orleans most of his life, was married to WILHELMENA ROCHENBACH. They had two sons, FRED KERN, my uncle, born around 1898 and
GEORGE AUGUST KERN born 7-9-01 died 1985. The family history that I learned from my father is:

The family entered the USA from Germany where their name was VON KERN but dropped the VON when entering. Part of the family went south to Louisana and part went due west across Ohio and into Ind. & Illinois. Hope this helps.
