Ginger, the John Yost Kern (German) family is well-documented and published
in hardcover. Your aunt jumped to hasty conclusions by connecting that
branch of Kerns to the ones in Berkeley County, WV. I would like to make
corrections on what you published here, but the mistakes are too overwhelming.
The best way to research our family tree is to start with ourselves and
work backwards in time, generation-by-generation (don't skip generations
to connect with a certain person), with documentation of sources, collecting
information on all members of a family unit, etc. That way you are less
likely to end up in left field. Are you a descendant of John A. Kern (b.
1823)? Of Michael and Nancy (Kees) Kerns? If you will tell me your earliest
