Population) - Census taken 5 January 1920; Sheet 6-A; Rochester, Monroe Co,
NY; Supervisor's District No. 19; Enumeration District No. 257; Ward 22
Fred A. Kern and his family are enumerated on Sheet 6-A of the 1920 Federal
Census for Rochester, Monroe Co, NY on lines 2 thru 9. Fred A. enumerated
with his wife, Rose and their children, Rose L., Fred J., Marion, Elmer, and
Ruth as living at 209 Durnan Street. Additionally, Fred J.'s wife, Ardella,
is enumerated
as living at the same address. It is additionally noted that Fred A. Kern is
47, born in New York, as were his parents, and is a shoemaker in a factory.
His wife, Rose, age 44, is unemployed outside the home. Daughter, Rose, age
21, is employed as a stenographer in a furniture factory. Son Fred J., age 24,
is listed as married, and a laborer who does camera work. Fred J.'s wife,
Ardella, age 23, is employed as a bookkeeper at a shoe factory. The younger
children, Marion, age 15; Elmer, age 8; and Ruth, age 7, are unemployed. All
members of the household were born in the state of New York and can speak
English. Fred's parents, as well are enumerated as being born in the state of
New York. However, Fred's wife, Rose's parents are
enumerated as being born in Germany, and it is additionally noted that her
