Dear Listers,

I am looking for Matthias KERN his ancestors and descendants. Matthias KERN
was born 16 Jul 1815 in Karlsbad-Ittersbach, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. He
emigrated to NY, USA, prior to 1860. He married in 1852 (place unknown) to
Anna Margrethe BAUMBACH, b. 18 Aug, 1822 in Weimarschmidte, Bavaria. She had
three boys (John, Henry, & August born 1847, 1848, 1849) by a previous
marriage. The 1860 Fed Census shows all of them living in Rochester, NY along
with Matthias' & Anna Margrethe's (Margaret's) children, Frederick W., Maria,
Edward, & Ludwig (Louis).

The 1880 Census records Matthias & Margaret KERN living at 3 Tyler Street with
their children, Edward, Louis, Libbie (Elizabeth) & Charles. August
(Schaumloffel) KERN and his wife Barbara living at #13 Tyler Street with their
sons, Frederick (my g-grandfather), age 8; William, age 6; and Edward, age 3.

Upon the death of Matthias,1882 in Rochester, Anna Margrethe (Margaret);
Edward; Louis & his wife; Libbie; & Charles all moved to California.
Frederick W. also moved to California, prior to 1880, since he shows up in the
San Francisco City Diretory of 1880.

Anna Margrethe BAUMBACH emigrated to the US sometime between 1840-1846. It is
not known where or when the marriage took place. Her first husband's name was
August SCHAUMLOFFEL, born in Pforzheim, Germany, DOB unknown, died 9 Feb 1851,
place unknown, but thought to be Rochester, NY.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these people in any of the locations
mentioned? Willing to share.

Cathy
