My earliest Kern is Mathias and Catherine Kern born in the late 1700's.
Their son Christian Kern born 2 Mar 1804 in Osthofen, Hessen, Germany.
married Anna Maria HOFRATH. Christian and Anna Maria are buried in
Vanderburg County, IN. Their 4 children (Katherine, Peter, Johann, and
Joseph) were born in Osthofen. In 1860 the parents and 2 younger sons
sailed to New Orleans and then settled in Vanderburg County, IN.
