Earliest Kern I can document is Johann P. (Phillip?) Kern b. ca 1789 in
Bavaria (possibly Billigheim) and his wife Katharine (possibly
Hurtig). They came to America between 1827 and 1843, with at least one
child, Peter Kern b. 1813 in Bavaria. Peter m. Caroline Geib ca
1842-43. 4 children were born in Cook Co. IL, Lyons Twp. Caroline P.
b. 1844, Louisa D. b. 1846, Peter b. 1848 and Emma L. b. 1851. The
children moved to Chicago after the death of parents and grandparents,
and lived with a Geib family member.
Our descent is through the child Peter that m. Theresa Brisach 1871 in
Chicago.
