PRESS RELEASE: Friday, March 13, 1998 (this is not a joke, or a hoax)

Per Carroll Williams, Director of Veteran Affairs in Washington D.C.
there are four categories of veterans who "DO" need to re-enroll before
October, 1998 with their VA Hospital in order to have their medical
benefits continue. Here are the four categories:

1) If you are a veteran and have NOT incurred a service-connected
illness
or injury;
2) If you are a veteran and have NOT utilized the services of a VA
Hospital since October, 1996;
3) If you are a veteran over the age of retirement and your income is
less than $8,000 a year; or
4) If you are a veteran under the age of retirement and your income is
less than $22,000 a year.

The Bill relating to this and passed in Congress is called "Public Law
104-262"

Information will be updated in the VA website today. You may go to:
www.VA.gov/health/elig

If you call your local VA Hospital and they tell you differently, then
let me know and I will pass the information to Director Williams so he
may correct them.

The Seattle, Washington VA Hospital was giving out erroneous information
and will be corrected according to Director Williams.

There are seven (7) priority groups who "DO NOT" need to re-enroll. If
you would like a copy we would be happy to fax you one. (Please include
your fax number with area code.)
