Hello Everyone,

Here we are into May, summer is coming up and the lists have been pretty
slow lately.

I would like to remind everyone that these lists are not very active. In
some cases it is not uncommon to go for several weeks without any activity.
One of the only ways we get any discussions going on these lists is to
have members send out requests for information. Or, if you have found a
good source for your surname, send it on to the list so that others might
be able to use it.

Why don't we all try sending some type of information or request to the
lists to which we are subscribed? Perhaps one of the name which is causing
you real trouble. You know the parents of that one ancestor you just can't
find. Perhaps it won't help, but just maybe you might get a discussion
started. And you might eve get some information you need from someone who
wasn't on the list the last time you tried.

If you haven't gotten any messages lately from the lists you are on the
best thing to do is send in a review. When you get your response look for
your e-mail address in the message. If it's there everything is okay, and
you'll get any mail sent to the list as it arrives. You do not need to
send me e-mail to find out what the problem is!

To send a review message do the following:
Mail to:
Subject: review

I manage eight lists surname lists here on the Maiser server, so feel free
to contact me if you have any questions on the following surname lists:
Beers, Godfrey, Kern, Monroe, Richmond, Spicer, Stearns & Tingley. If you
are subscribed to more than one of these lists you'll get this message on
each list. You will also start seeing copies of responses sent to list
messages. The lists are going to be set to automatically respond to the
list. So, if you want to make sure the original sender gets a copy you
will need to add their address to your reply.

We have had a lot of problems lately with bounces from several servers.
Among the worst at the moment has been AOL. However, most of the AOL
problems appear to be temporary, and you do seem to eventually get your
messages. I do get so-call fatal errors on addresses occasionally. If I
get a fatal error on your address I have started to remove that "bad"
address from the list. So, if you suddenly get a message from Maiser
saying you've been dropped from the list that might have happened. If you
do get a message like this just subscribe again.
