Effective March 12, 1997:

Because of the number of lists on the MAISER server it has become necessary
to make up several files for obtaining lists-of-lists here. To get
information about the various lists available on the MAISER server you must
send commands as shown in this message.

If you have any questions, or if you try these commands and nothing works,
contact me directly.

The commands to get the files here all begin with the word SEND!!!!

The current available lists of lists are:
LIST1.TXT has info on general interest (non-genealogy) lists
LIST2.TXT has info on state/regional/non-family lists
LIST3.TXT has info on families A&B
LIST4.TXT has info on families C&D
LIST5.TXT has info on families E-G
LIST6.TXT has info on families H-K
LIST7.TXT has info on families L-N
LIST8.TXT has info on families O-R
LIST9.TXT has info on families S&T
LIST10.TXT has info on families U-Z

To get any of these lists send a message similar to the sample shown below.
Modify the list as needed for which list(s) you want. Remember, send your
message to , not to the surname list.

Mail to:
Subject: send lists
SEND LIST1.TXT
SEND LIST2.TXT
EXIT

This is an example of how to get the first two lists of lists on the MAISER
server. None of these currently exceeds 30 Kb in length. Several are over
20 Kb in length. If you are on Juno, you'll just have to hope that you can
get the lists. My wife is on Juno and I'm going to try requesting the
lists to see which, if any, can be received. If there is a significant
problem, I'll let you know.

Remember, any questions or problems, contact me directly. Also remember,
commands go to the MAISER address, not to you surname list address. And,
of course, all these command lines must begin with the word SEND.
