MICROSOFT AND JUNO PROBLEMS

For some reason, the Microsoft Network (MSN addresses) and the Juno network
are having some real problems right now with rejections of messages. Juno
is probably because of the switch to local numbers rather than 800 numbers.
Since I'm not a Juno member I really am not sure, but that seems to be the
point of a lot of messages on other lists lately.

I have started getting a lot of rejects from these two networks on some of
our subscribers. To save a lot of headaches, when I get a reject from a
subscriber's server I will try a personal e-mail to that address. If that
e-mail rejects I will have to unsubscribe the person from the list.

If all of a sudden you notice that you don't seem to be getting mail, or if
you get an "unsub" message from maiser, that might be what happened. Do a
review of the list, and if you are not shown as a current subscriber just
subscribe again.

GREAT WEB SITE

One of our list members has recommended the following web site. They do, in
fact, offer Social Security Death Index (SSDI) searches for free. I have
tried it, and it works pretty well. I don't normally like to recommend
commercial sites, but this is a pretty good deal. If nothing else, it does
provide one more source for looking for data on Twentieth century family
members.

The web site can be found at: http://www.ancestry.com/

OTHER INFORMATION

Anywhere in this message that you see the word ListName you should
substitute the name of the surname list you are subscribed to, i.e. if you
are on the TINGLEY list, change ListName to TINGLEY for any of the addresses
or commands.

These lists are not exceptionally active, it is not uncommon to go for
several days without messages.

When you respond to a message on the list it automatically goes to the
originator only. To send a copy of the response to the list in general, you
have to manually add the list address to your response.
