Hello fellow Kern people!
Just made a super find and want to share it with you! Using the 1880
Soundex, I found the parents and siblings of my grandfather Adam William
Kern. He died in the 50s and I had precious little information to go on so
this is a wonderful experience!
And of course I've ordered the whole census to find out occupation, etc.
Parents: Frederick (age 52) and Margaret (age 33) sisters Bertha (21), Annie
(19), Cora (8) Lizzie (3) and Christina (8 months) and brothers Frederick
(17) Henry (7) and my grandfather Adam W. (3). In 1880 they all lived at 337
West 37th Street, New York City. I am suspicious of Margaret's young
age.....since the children seem to be in two "groupings" perhaps the first
three were born to another wife. Anyway, when the census arrives, I'll
learn more.
Both Margaret and Frederick were born in Germany and all the
children were born in New York.
If this rings any bells with any of you, please write and let me know.
I'm so happy to be a part of this little group and share this with you.
Sincerely,
Carol Kern Simmons
