BEST WISHES FOR THE NEW YEAR

Hope 1996 went well for everyone on the list. I'm anxiously awaiting the
arrival in just a couple of days of the new year of 1997. Should prove to
be an interesting year in many respects. I really wish the best for you and
yours in all you do for 1997.

The digest version of these lists is currently NOT working. Until you are
notified differently do not try to set yourself up on the digest, you won't
get any mail.

WELCOME MESSAGE

Last time I sent out a message I mentioned that you might want to request a
copy of the new welcome message. Now I understand that due to the huge
growth and heavy message volume on the "maiser" system from all the various
lists, that Larry Stephens has modified how things work. Apparently my
instructions from two weeks ago are not valid. I still trying to verify an
easy way to get the welcome message without having to unsubscribe and then
subscribe again. As soon as I have more information I will send it out to you.

Anywhere in this message that you see the word ListName you should
substitute the name of the surname list you are subscribed to, i.e. if you
are on the BEERS list, change ListName to BEERS for any of the addresses or
commands.

These lists are not exceptionally active, it is not uncommon to go for
several days without messages. If you are worried that you may not be on
the list any longer, send a "review" message as shown further down in this
message.

When you respond to a message on the list it automatically goes to the
originator only. To send a copy of the response to the list in general, you
have to manually add the list address to your response.

MESSAGE ADDRESSES:

Mail Messages to the list go to:
Commands go to:

If you're on other mail lists you've probably noticed people sending unsub
and sub messages and other commands to you and everyone on the list. But
that just doesn't do it, since you have to send your command to the right
address. Luckily we don't have that problem on our lists, but just keep the
difference in mind. These same addresses apply for any mail list on the
"maiser" server.

SOME COMMANDS:

To unsubscribe from the list:
Mail to:
Subject: blank (not read by system)
Message body: UNSUB ListName

To get a copy of the ListName list welcome message (lists some other commands):
Mail to:
Subject: blank (not read by system)
Message body: SEND ListName.HI

To make sure you are still subscribed (if you haven't been getting any mail):
Mail to:
Subject: blank (not read by system)
Message body: REVIEW

Then when you get a response from the server, check for your e-mail
address. If it isn't there, subscribe again and all will be well.

If you need something specific in connection with the list, or have some
problem, send a message to with the List Name in the
subject line.

Thanks, good family hunting, and have fun!

Chet
