Hello, fellow KEPHART researchers!

I recently adopted the KEPHART-L mailing list, and have updated the welcome
message. Since you're already subscribed, I'm posting it on the list so the
rest of you can see it. We have 5 subscribers so far.

Genealogy and History Mailing List

You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will
receive every posting made to KEPHART-L as a separate e-mail. The directions
on how to change to digest mode are given below.

This list is intended for anyone interested in the genealogy and history of
the KEPHART family. Messages must pertain to that subject.

Basic rules:

1) NO SPAM or other commercial messages area allowed. Treat others in your
postings to KEPHART-L as you would want to be treated.

2) NO COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS. As a rule of thumb, everything written or
published since 1923 is covered by copyright. Unless you have written
permission from the copyright holder (or _are_ the copyright holder), don't
include the information on the mailing list. If you do a lookup for someone
from a copyrighted publication, send the information to them directly, not
to the list.

3) NO INFORMATION ABOUT LIVING PERSONS. Don't include personal data about
people who are still alive; the only exception is yourself. Respect other
people's wishes to keep their personal information private.

Violators of these simple policies will be removed from the list, with or
without warning, at the sole discretion of the listowner.

MAINTAINING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO KEPHART-L

1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to



that contains (in the body of the message) the command

unsubscribe

and no additional text.

2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd
not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance,
if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you
want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to
.

3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and
sent to you together as a single large message). There are two
steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to
to discontinue mail mode. Second,
send the command "subscribe" to
to start receiving digests.

4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode.
All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe
when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them
to start again, simply subscribe again.

5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing
list receives it, just send it to . It
will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode.
You don't need to send it explicitly to both.
