Hi List. Hey ! isn't it neat? We just hibernated all
winter, huh? I would like to hear how smoking was done " back
then" I know a curved stove pope was opened....I believe it had a
damper in it......and a small fire of sticks only a couple of feet long
and maybe 3 or 4 at a time kept on the little mound ....maybe a foot
wide.....was kept burning ..But i do not know if it was watched and kept
up 24 hrs. per day nor do I know how long it was kept going. I thought
it smelled gosh awful....and we kids were not allowed to use it...."
fan the door" But that is about all I remember. I do not remember
seeing where the meat was. ( there probably isn't any one one the
list with as many 39 th birthdays as I have had) so may need to rely on
now a days ways.
I am curious how many different types of trees was used for the dip
snuff little sticks the women kept in their mouth. Any one
remember that?
I remember one of the neighbor lads coming to school after a bout of
catching a skunk in his trap line. Geepers . He got to sit way in
back alone <G>. He was quiet a bit older than I. A
remote kin....I saw him a couple of years ago......he was a Marine in
WWII and was at Iwoa Jima, and all the islands before that. He
said those places smelled worse than the skunks that got in his trap
lines..... Y'all have a good day
Liv
