I just looked back at your previous email and noticed that you said
Nathan was born ca. 1760. If that is the case, he probably could not be
the Nathan in my line that died in the Mexican War in 1847 or so, as he
would have to have been an 87-year-old soldier.

Still, I'll keep an eye out for info on your Nathaniel Johnsons. Never
know what might turn up.

Dorothy

Dear Dorothy, no, I don't know when he died. I find Nathaniel B.
Johnston
in the in the 1820 Census of Pike Co., MS with his father, Nathaniel.
In
the 1840 Census of Newton Co., MS, I find N.B. (Nathaniel Bailey)
Johnston,
page 139 and his father is no longer listed. I do not find him in the
1850
Census of MS. It is possible that he could be the one who died in the
Mexican American War. It would explain why I can't find him in the
Texas
Census of 1850 and the 1850 MS Census. Thank you for telling me this as
I
will try and see if I can look at his military record and see where he
was
born and who his spouse was. Do you know what his wife's name was?
Also,
do you know the name of his children? Thanks so much, doc
