Subject: [JOHN] Johns Families of Florida vs Johns Families of Virginia

Dear Johns Researchers,

I have been watching with interest your interchange of information on the
vavious Johns families of early Florida. I know, from past interchanges
with Cliff, that there has always been a question how the Florida Johns
families connect, if at all, with the Virginia Johns families. I am relatively
sure that there is some kind of connection because the earliest Johns of
both locations came to America during about the same time period. However
it strikes me as rather strange that all of the key Johns individuals of the
early Virginia Johns families bore very common English given names,
Robert, William, Richard, John. Mary, Jane etc., while the Johns families of
Florida bear a lot of biblical names that are not found in any of the Johns
families of Virginia. This leads me to believe that the root stock of the
Florida Johns families is somewhat different than that of the Johns of
Virginia. I KNOW THIS POINT COULD BE ARGUED SEVERAL WAYS, but I think it is
valid.

We know the Johns of Virginia came from London and that they originated
in Wales . Cliff has done a lot of excellent research on this subject. I
know Cliff also did some work on the early Johns of Florida with the objct
of connecting to the Johns of Virginia. I guess I'm still not convinced
that there is a direct connection.
