" ... that's OK... since the TUCKERs are from my dad's side and the RYANs are from my mom's side. My parents are divorced and have been since I was a kid... dad had always said that there was something that always was between them. Could this be one of the many? There are a few opposites, just like this between mom and dad... makes one wonder about that ole Genetic Memory thing that I keep hearing others talk about.

This is how dad's grandmother - Rose Etta (Jacobs) COBB knew that dad looked like Jesse James and why she first named dad Jesse Cobb. Dad's parents chose to name him Floyd James Cobb instead... to not to be so closely associated with the James family since they had to move so much because of this relationship as it was.

Can you send them to me? I'd love to see them and when I get a copy, I'll share Bill Ryan's niece - Rachel (RYAN) KINSLOW, daughter of Drury RYAN, Bill's brother. One of my cousins is going to send me a copy. I am looking into getting a copy of Drury RYAN's pic to share so that we can see the family
resemblances.

Rachel RYAN and her husband Thomas KINSLOW are buried out here in Philly PA... that Philadelphia PA for those who don't live here.

OK, here's what I'll do... I'll contact my cousin who is out of Bill Ryan... remember my side of the family is out of Bill Ryan's brother - Drury RYAN. And, I will send this to him and ask him to see if he can answer your questions.

Does anyone have a copy of that photo of Jesse James and Bill Ryan? I'd love a copy of that one also to share with the rest of my family.

Over the weekend... I called every KINSLOW in the PA area that showed up in my search... I met some that are in fact cousins and some of them knew that we were related to Jesse James. They remembered hearing it when they were kids.

Thanks for sharing. I have to ask you what your connection is with Bill RYAN... are you related to Bill Ryan? If so that makes us cousins. Neat.

Hi - I've had an interest in Bill Ryan for quite some time. My husbands Gr. Grandpa, Thomas Albert Lynch, b. 1849 in Ky., said he rode with the Jesse James Gang for a 'short while'. He had scars on his back from being shot with a shotgun, and a .44 slug in his leg which was never removed. He said he was with Jesse James, Cole Younger, Robert Howard, and a 4th man (family couldn't remember his name) when he got shot. Tom Lynch was orphaned at the age of 10, and he lived with his Grandpa John Davis until John died in 1860. I find a Tom Lynch who rode with Captain Rowans Partisan Rangers during the Civil War, but have no proof that he is my Tom Lynch. (A researcher told me it was, but I don't know how he came to that conclusion.) Anyway, I do not know where Tom Lynch was from 1860 until 1879. In 1880 Tom was in Union Co. Ky. with a wife named Rebecca and an unnamed baby girl born 1880.
In 1881, Tom again 'disappears' from records. (In 1881 Bill Ryan was arrested and imprisoned - incidentally, Tucker Bassham testified against him). In 1889, Tom Lynch showed up in northern Arkansas, using the alias Ben Malloy. (Bill Ryan was released from prison in 1889). I have a copy of Bill's prison records and his description is identical to Tom Lynch's - right down to the scar on both men's chin. Bill Ryan susposedly went to live with an uncle after his release from prison, got drunk one day and rode into a low-hanging tree limb and killed himself. But, who was the uncle and where are the records of Bill's death and burial? Or was this a rumor started to give Bill an opportunity to 'disappear'? Bill Ryan was blamed for Jesse having to leave Nashville, and some of the James Gang weren't happy with him for getting drunk and arrested. Also, Bill had promised to 'fill Tucker Bassham's liver full of holes" when he got out of prison. When Bill was released from prison, he w!

released a day early because it was rumored that Bassham had been seen in town and was threatening Bill. So, Bill had ample reason to want to 'disappear'.

Jesse left Nashville because he had been seen with Bill Ryan and was afraid someone would make the connection between the two. When Jesse moved to Kansas City, Mo., he and his wife used the alias J. Questions I have: Does anyone know the whereabouts and what happened to Bill Ryan after he was released from prison in 1889? Does anyone have a photo of the real Bill Ryan (I have 5 photos of 5 different men who are said to be Bill Ryan). Is there proof that the 'Bill Ryan' in the Barrel Factory photo is really Bill Ryan? Does anyone have any proof of which Bill Ryan actually rode with Jesse James? Tom Lynch was shot when he was with Jesse James - what alias did he use? Where were they at when he got shot? He was hospitalized after being shot...where was the hospital at? Did he use his real name when he rode with Jesse but was just left out of the history books? Is all of the above data coincidence?
I've given several 'experts' my story about Tom Lynch, but none of them seem interested. Does anyone have an opinion about this? Debbie

Hi - I forgot to ask - does anyone know who the Thomas Little who rode with Jesse James was related to? My Grandmother, Maggie Rosetta Novalee Kelm Little, said she was related to Jesse James (everybody else is!). (Not through the Littles - that was her married name). Maggies mother was Lucasta Berry, dau. of John "Uncle Jackie" Berry and Elizabeth Melton. I do not know who Maggies real father was - Lucasta was 8 months pregnant when she married Ralph Kelm. She was born in Texas Co. Mo. in 1881. Did any of the James relations hang around Texas Co.? Debbie
