THANK YOU. THERE WERE NUMEROUS OTHER SPELLINGS OF THE NAME JAY IN ENGLAND AND FRANCE. IN FRANCE, THE NAME WAS SPELLED DU JAU, LE JAU, DU JAY, LE JAY, AND SIMPLY JAY OR JAU. IN ENGLAND THE SPELLINGS WERE JAY, JAE, GEE, GAE, JOY, AND SO FORTH. PEOPLE SIMPLY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SPELL WELL BACK IN THOSE ANCIENT TIMES. EVERYTHING WAS SPELLED THE WAY IT SOUNDED.
