Land was patented from the crown in the early days. Once owned it
changed hands by deed.
Patents and deeds exist in the Archives in Jamaica at Spanish
Town. They have not been microfilmed to my knowledge. Wayne Burnside
does some records research in Spanish Town, but I am not sure if that
includes Patents and Deeds.
