For those of you on the list who have mentioned Cherokee blood in your
JACKSON lines or Native American in general, here are a few important sites
which may be of assistance in your searches. When one of the listers, had the
town, Ocunluftee, listed as a place name for an ancestor, my heart jumped,
as that was an old settlement of my Cherokee ancestors. There are census
rolls, specifically for Eastern Cherokees living in KY, AL, GA, NC and TN in
1851. They were not on the state or federal rolls. The list has many Cherokee
names with English-sounding names and JACKSON surnames as well. For example
JIM JACKSON's name
was : Te-nul-le-huh and SUNDAY JACKSON was Kau-te-quo-kih

Also, there are sites for Cherokee Place Names in NC, GA and TN which might
also help you in your search:

Hope these are useful to you. Have fun learning! Catherine
