David,

There are no civil records prior to the 1860's when Italy was unified other
than the 1841 census which was conducted by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. If
you want to go further back you need to go to parish records. These consist
of baptism, marriage, death and stato d'amine (a form of church census)
these will go back 1600's and possibly earlier. The problem is finding the
right parish and getting the priest to cooperate and give you access. Most
are too busy with day to day activities to spend the time finding the
records.

Subject: [ITA-TOSCANA] Rossini from Arezzo

G'day everyone,

I'm helping a friend with their research, and would appreciate it if anyone
can help me.

English records show that Pergentino Francesco Rossini was born ca. 1839 in
Arezzo, the son of Donato Rossini.

Can anyone please give me some advice about contacting the relevant archives
and obtaining further records.
