Hi Patti,

This isn't my Hegarty family but all that the family knows about the Judges is from a letter written in 1959 by Patrick Moylett born Crossmolina in 1878. I have a copy of that letter. Patrick Moylett said: "She (name unknown) . married a man named Judge. Judge owned a small corn grinding mill on the Fotish River, a small beautifully clear stream of spring water that did not depend upon rain directly for its supply. Mary Judge born of the above parentage became my maternal Grandmother. She married a man from County Tyrone, named Solomon O'Boyle." In another part of the letter Patrick Moylett said that Mary Judge died in 1911 at the age of 101 so I have figured that she was born about 1810.

We have no information about a Hegarty marrying a Judge. Have you considered placing the records you have found on this site? I would love to see them. I would especially like to see who the godparents were if that is listed.

While reading through the HEGARTY info on the Mayo General board last night I came across this information from "Jayne" who hasn't left a message since 2001. On Dec 2, 2000 Jayne (eilidh) said to Brendan Hegarty: "....The Hegartys that I have info on come from Mayo mostly. All descendants of 3 brothers that split off from the relatives in Cork.. I have the 2 brothers' names but none to link them to." "Jayne's" email address bounced back last night.

I hope this is of interest and wish I had more for you.

Mary
