According to "A History of the Parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago"...
The second pastor of St. Brendan Church was Rev. Patrick J. Scanlan, who came to Chicago in 1888 after his ordination in Ireland. Prior to his assignment in Englewood, Father Scanlan had served as pastor of St. Dominic Church in Chicago, St. Gertrude Church in Franklin Park, Ill., and St. Joseph Church in Libertyville, Ill.
Under Father Scanlan's leadership, a new convent was built at 1223 W. Marquette Rd. in 1917 at a cost of $50,000.
Father Scanlan died on Feb. 6, 1937 at the age of 72.
