1914 May 26.

SUMMARY
Informal half-length portrait of artist Thomas Augustin
O'Shaughnessy, smiling, holding a paintbrush, sitting in a room in
Chicago, Illinois. He is turned away from a stained glass tile with a
Celtic design and other tiles are hanging behind him. O'Shaughnessy,
a Daily News artist, also designed the mosaic tiles based on the Book
of Kells for Saint Patrick's Cathedral, located at 140 West Adams
Street in the Near West Side community area of Chicago. At the time
this photograph was taken, a bill was passed by the English
parliament that allowed Ireland the right to self-rule.
