Bowler, Michael, brother of Officer Maurice Bowler of the Central
Police Station, died at his late residence, 782 Holt avenue, near the
North Chicago Rolling Mills on Tuesday, the 8th inst., after a short
illness at the age of 55 years and 9 mos. Twelve days before his
death he complained of feverishness. Four days before his death he
felt an acute pain in the chest which became somewhat inflated and
succumbed to a serious affection of the liver. Mr. Bowler was born on
the 23rd of September, 1828 in Filemore, near the town of
Cahirciveen, Co. Kerry, on a farm his late grandfather, Patrick
Bowler, leased from the Liberator's father, Morgan O'Connell of
Carhan in 1802 and which is still occupied by his brothers. He was
the third of fourteen children - ten sons and four daughters, nine of
whom survive him. He came to America in November, 1863, and settled
in Chicago having worked in the North Chicago Rolling Mills until
some years ago, when he went extensively in to cattle dealing through
which industry he leaves his wife and six children in fair

William Bowler, brother of Maurice and Michael died Oct. 6, 1891,
aged 50 years, a native of Filemore, Co. Kerry. Funeral from the

William, James, Mary, Kittie, Nellie and James, aged 48, a native of
Parish of Valencia Island, Co. Kerry. Funeral from resid. 257 W.

Johanna Clifford, nee Quirk, at her daughter's resid., Mrs. Kate
Sullivan, 305 Jefferson st., aged 97 years, mother of the late
Patrick, Thomas D. Clifford, Mrs. J. Bowler, Mrs. Bridget and Kate
Sullivan, born in Glenbagh (Glanbehy), Co. Kerry, emigrated to New
York in 1850, and removed to Chicago in 1854. She was remarkable in
good health, only needed a physician once, and that was after the
Great Fire of 1871, when she fell upon a dilapidated sidewalk, and
dislocated her hip, after which she was obliged to use a crutch. Even
her eyesight was so perfect she did not wear glasses in her old age,
to sew and knit. The funeral from St. Patrick's Church where she
worshiped for 45 years, to Calvary -Oct. 29, 1895

Brosnahan, Nellie nee Bowler, wife of Patrick Brosnahan, sister of
Mrs. J. Manning, Mrs. J. Kirby, Mrs. W. Seeley, and Mrs. G. Cappy.
Funeral from her late residence, 943 W. 37th st. to the Nativity
Church thence to Mt. Olivet cemetery. Native of Lispole [Listowel],
Co. Kerry. July 3, 1902
