Subject: [IRISH-IN-CHICAGO] Irish Famine recordings

Learned of this online narrated history from the Limerick list, but
considering the number of Irish who emigrated to the regions of other lists of which
I'm a member, thought this information resource was worth sharing.

If you go to URL _http://www.rte.ie/radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html_
(http://www.rte.ie/radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html) (
_http://www.rte.ie.radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html_
(http://www.rte.ie.radio1/famineechoes/1115374.html) ) you can listen to a series of broadcasts that were re-aired on Irish
radio starting December 9, 2006. It is a poignant history composed of
narratives provided by locals recounting what they heard from their relatives who
lived through the famine period -- an incredibly detailed description of life in
those times -- e.g. how they lived, what they ate, how they farmed, etc..

Am sending to Australia Victoria Goldfields and Western District lists, the
Cook County and Irish in Chicago lists, the Albany, NY list and the Monaghan
list, Please feel free to forward to other lists/contacts who might have
interest.
