I have learned that the Chicago Tribune
was primarily a North Side newspaper until the 1940's.
(I actually have a friend whose father was hired to
find distribution points on the South Side in the 40's).
Also, the Trib was generally read by the more affluent
folks in town. I have had much more success finding my
South Side Irish obits in the Chicago Daily News, but,
alas, no index, nor online availability that I know of.

Molly Kennedy, www.mollx.com can do lookups
at the Illinois State Library for a very reasonable fee.
