The family of Robert Clarke (Clark) and Frances Tierney (Tiernan) immigrated from Ballykelly, Kilmacree, County Wexford, Ireland, 1878 and 1885, staying for a time at the home of Frances' sister Anna who was married to Charles Schick a prosperous butcher in Chicago. The Schick household including several servants and borders is listed in the 1880 census for Chicago.
The Clarke family includes children Michael, Mary, Patrick, Laurence, Maryanne, Francis, Francis, Robert, and Ellen who remained in Ireland. All were baptized in the Pierstown parish in County Wexford.
The oldest son Michael Clark married Mary Ann Murphy of Bear Creek, Wisconsin, and their family lived at the Murphy farm there. Michael was elected village trustee of Bear Creek.
