FATHER O'MEARA, ASSISTANT PASTOR AT ST. ITA'S, DEAD.


The Rev. John J. O'Meara, 42 years old, assistant pastor of St. Ita's
church, died suddenly yesterday. He had long been a sufferer with
Bright's disease. Father O'Meara was born in Limerick county,
Ireland. He studied for the priesthood at Mt. Mallory college and the
Carlo seminary, both in Ireland, and then came to America. He
completed his studies at St. Mary's college in Baltimore and became
assistant pastor of St. Agatha's church in Chicago. Later he became
associated with St. Ita's.

The body will lie in state at St. Ita's church tomorrow. The office
of the dead and pontifical high mass will be sung, the Rt. Rev.
Bishop P. P. Rhode officiating. burial will be in Calvary.
