Others who were heroic in aiding the starving Irish were the Quakers.

Actually, I think it's good for all of Irish descent to remember what our
ancestors went through. For example, how many Irish Americans know that the
largest single private donation to the starving in Famine Ireland came from
descendants of Choctaw Indians in Oklahoma, who had themselves starved while
being
driven from their ancestral lands in the Southeast? Many of us are alive today
because the Choctaw remembered their ancestors' suffering and honored their
memory by helping the Famine Irish.
