Some websites which may help locate relatives in Chicago.

marriages bewteen 1763 and 1900

deaths between 1916 and 1950

Notice that the State of Illinois has many online databases about land
records, Civil War records, etc.

The cemetery where ancestors would have been buried depends on the year. In
the 1800's the main cemetery was Calvary. Later the 2 major additional
cemeteries were
Mt. Olivet on the South Side (near where many of the Irish lived) and St.
Marys in a southwest suburb of the city. A history and opening dates of these
cemeteries can be found at:
http://www.cathcemchgo.org/history.htm

If they were in Chicago by 1880, the LDS website has the 1880 US census
online.

Parishes keep most records. A list of parishes can be found at:

http://www.archchicago.org/parishdirec/vicariatelist.shtm

Hope this info helps.
