Hi Alice

The Outfit does a brief background of Chicago starting in 1830 but the largest
part starts before WWI and goes into great depth of the Prohibition era. The
activity goes onto the 1970's. With extensive research including recently
released FBI files, the Chicago crime files of entertainer and Windy City
native Steve Allen, first time access to the voluminous working papers of the
Kefauver Committee, original interviews with Outfit associates and members of
the Fourth Estate, and first-ever access to the journals of the wife of a high
ranking member of the Outfit, and more references. Included are Irish wise
Guys and politicians of the Irish persuassion and all that Jazz. (Couldn't
resist that just saw "Chicago".) Most of the above came out of the flyleaf.
