Subject: [Irish in Chicago] Al Capone and the Irish of Chicago
Date: Tue, 11 Feb 2003 16:49:04 EST

Hi listers,

I recently found out that the husband of my father's cousin was on trial
sometime in the 1930s. I think it was for corruption. He was found not
guilty of the charges. The person who told me this thought it had something
to do with Al Capone.

Does anyone know if any Irish worked with or for Al Capone during the 1930s?
The man's name was John Keane and he lived in Evanston. Supposedly he owned
movie theaters in the 1920s in Chicago. He's listed as a stock broker in the
1930 census.

Thanks.
Nora
