Dear Maureen,
I think Harold Washington library downtown is your
best bet, also.
I lived in Visitation parish, which is in the
Englewood police district and we went to the Sherman
Park library on Garfield Blvd. I don't even know if the
library is still there and even if it is you would be
taking your life in your hands to go there. I'm not
exaggerating. Stick with the downtown library or try
the Chicago Historical Society at www.chicagohs.org
