Sorry, Carole, but I doubt that you will find anything before 1871, even if
you know what parish your Great Grandparents belonged to. The fire
effectively destroyed pretty much every record up to that date. You might be
able to find out what information does exist by writing or calling the
Dioscese. If you know what their date of death was, their obit's will often
indicate their church affiliation. Marriage data (from Chicago, at least) is,
by the way, most unsatisfying when it comes to genealogical information. You
