Subject: Irish in Chicago

My Chicago Irish came there in the late 1800's. They were:

Ryan's - Emma and Margaret - lived on Calumet Ave. and owned a millner/dress

John and Mary (Ryan) Carroll- lived on Calumet Ave. also- both born in NY,
lived in NE Iowa, moved to SD>Neb.>Chicago

Sr. Julia Carroll was a Mercy Nun; ran the bookkeeping dept at Mercy Hospital
in Chicago for a time, also taught school. (eldest daughter of John and Mary)

Ellen (Ryan) Bennett had 3 children living with her still on the 1900 census:
James, Joseph and Ella. James and John were saloonkeepers ;Ellen b Ireland

Patrick and Bridget (Ryan) O'Connell- most of their kids were born in NY;
Patrick born in Canada, Bridget in Ireland.
