Domestic Occurrences is the heading that "The Times of India" uses for its
hatches, matches & despatches column (births, marriages & deaths). This is
the first posting under this heading and concerns marriages from 1863.
They are taken from some of the 'Overland Editions' of The Times ... which
were issued twice a month to coincide with the Homeward Mails steamers and
only contain Indian news. The news items have been repeated from the near
daily editions of the paper which also contained news from "home" and other
places abroad. The cost of putting a "domestic occurrence" in the paper was
