Maxine Elizabeth Musselman, age 84, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:15 p.m. in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Maxine was born on November 29, 1925 in Oakdale, IL, a daughter to Harold and Eleanor Elizabeth "Beth" (Carson) Auld. While attending Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, she met her future husband Dale. On July 20, 1950, she married Dale Musselman in Oakdale, IL and he survives. They had just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Maxine was a homemaker and teacher. It was during WW II that she began her early teaching career. After graduating High School, she taught at the Halfacre one room school and then was a substitute teacher for the surrounding communities for many years. She went on to earn her teaching degree at McKendree College. She was a lifetime member of Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and was an active member of the Women Christian Temperance Union. Maxine was a member of Home Extension, the Raccoon Ramblers Camping group and volunteered during the annual cancer drive. She loved crafting, sewing, cake decorating and traveling.
She is survived by her husband; a son, James Harold Musselman of Oakdale, IL; a daughter, Diane Elizabeth Musselman of Los Angeles, CA; her beloved grand dog, Molly; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Raymond Morton officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Oakdale, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA.
