Here are two links that list various virus hoaxes on a continuing basis.
I've made a separate file in my bookmarks and bookmarked these links so that
I can check to see if a virus warning is real or hoax.

One point worthy of noting is that only executable files (programs) such as
.bat, .exe. (there are others) can contain virus'. data file are generally
safe including photos and text files.
