Hi Sandy,

I *think* my Olivers are from a different Fayette County Oliver line altogether,
but one never knows <grin>. I have very little information but here is what I
have:

Allen OLIVER (b. IN) m. Susan GOSNELL, Coles Co IL in November 1856. I find an
Emaline GOSNELL in the 1850 Coles County census index; her age is given as 14
years, born in Indiana, but she is living with a different family. I also found
a George W OLIVER (born in NC) in the 1850 Coles County census with a son James
A. OLIVER, age 8 or 9, born in Indiana. Most of the male ancestors in my
Illinois line went by their middle names which makes them very hard to find in
the census. It's possible that this is my Allen OLIVER but he would have
married at the age of 14 or 15

I only have the name of one of Allen and Susan's children, my great great
grandfather Martin H. OLIVER, b Mar 1861 IA; m Mary Ellen POPE, daughter of
John George (Johann Georg) POPE and Elizabeth Jane REDDISH on Sept 1, 1886.
Martin was living in Nokomis, Montgomery County, IL but married Mary Ellen POPE
in Fayette County IL. It appears that they lived in Montgomery County for
awhile before settling permanently in Fayette County. Their children were:

1. Hattie Myrtle OLIVER (9 Sep 1887 - 24 Jul 1973) m. Thomas Llewlleyn MAHON
(18 Aug 1884 - 27 Aug 1964)

2. Hugh W. OLIVER (b Jan 1891)

3. Phoebe J. OLIVER (b Jun 1892) m. John STUTTWIG

4. Florence Ellen OLIVER (Feb 1895 - Sept 1978) m. Clarence SYLVESTER HELM
(June 1893 - Nov 1966) -- these are my grandparents

5. Elizabeth 'Bessie' C OLIVER (b Apr 1897) married ? Howard ? Pruitt

6. Velva M OLIVER (b Apr 1897)

7. Mary A OLIVER (b May 1898)

This probably only muddies the water a little bit more, I'm afraid.
