I don't know if this is my James Cox or not. I don't know which family he belongs to yet. I also am not sure of my John Cox's relation to other Cox families. I've started tracking all the Cox families as I find them to figure out who's who. I know several came from North Carolina, but it looks like others came from Ohio, through Indiana as my John Cox. It seems logical that those who migrated together with the Quaker movement are going to be related, but not necessarily. The main families I have decended from either:

John Cox (b. 1789, N. J.) & Parmelia Quick (migrated through Ohio and Indiana)

Unknown Cox & Zylpha Unknown (migrated with the Quakers from North Carolina)

Thomas Cox (b. 1809, N. C.) & Winney Harrol

Richard Cox & Mary Griffin - father of Calvin (b. abt. 1813, N.C.)

Matther Cox (abt. 1801, N.C.) & Anna Unknown

Samuel Cox (abt. 1823, Indiana) & Cecilia Daugherty...also married Frances (Frankey) Hart

Unknown Cox & Sally Unknown (abt. 1790, N.C.) - parents of Dicey A., Jesse B., and Mary Cox

James Cox (1799, N.C.) & Unknown - parents of Sarah, Ferry, Elizabeth, Edmond, and James H. Cox

James Cox (1819, Ohio) & Mary Ann Cooley

Unknown Cox & Susanna Unknown (b. 1822, Ohio) - parents of George M., John W., and Martha

Needham Cox (1815, N.C.) & Mary Colter - he is next door to Bryant Cox (Thomas Cox & Winney Harrol) in 1850 Census - brothers??

James Cox - mentioned in History as causing trouble in Licking Twp, raised a bunch of sons, who caused trouble, as well, and said father and sons supposedly vacated to Missouri about 1843.

James Cox - b. abt 1837, North Carolina, found living with George Parker, Jr. , age 29 in 1850 Census.

Jesse Cox (b. 1821, Indiana) & Lucinda Tharp

Sarah Cox (b. 01 Aug 1816, Miami Co., Ohio) who married Abel Reynolds.

Unknown Cox & Sarah A Unknown (abt. 1828, Ohio) - parents to Martha J Cox (Mar 1850, Illinois)

Everyone else I have is connected as a child of these. I am sure that many of these are somehow related, but I haven't discovered it yet.
