Welcome Ed !!!
Minerva's one of the daughters of my ggg-grandfather, George Price CLAYTON
who was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky and died as best as I can tell - 6
June 1838 in Crawford. His son, Samuel Thomas CLAYTON, Minerva's eldest
brother, was my gg-grandfather. Sam T. married Elizabeth SIMMONS on
Valentine's Day 1843 in Lawrence County, Illinois, and migrated to Green
County, Wisconsin, by 1850. One of his sons, yet another Sam T., born 1864
in Washington Twp., Green Co., Wisconsin, married Sophia ELMER there in
1887 and had a son Elmer "Lee" CLAYTON b. 1890 in Hordville, Hamilton
County, Nebraska - who married a WAGGONER, Alta "Grace" in Central City,
Merrick County, Nebraska 15 Oct 1912.
I'd managed to follow Fred & Minerva (CLAYTON) MARTIN as far as the 1870
Census in Crawford County, Illinois, where the trail ended.
Wise County, Texas?? Really? [I feel like Christmas just arrived] Would
love to see what you've found and share ancestry "way back". (G.P. CLAYTON
is the son of Saml b. 1764 in Culpeper County, Virginia on the old CLAYTON
farm, later called "Catalpa", where 230 years ago last weekend the Virginia
Minutemen first encamped before heading on down to Williamsburg to scare
the bejeezus out of the king's govenour there - which began the rest of our
story)
