More than 100,000 threats exist today. RootsWeb mailing lists are unlikely
sources of viruses, since attachments are not allowed. However, in many
cases, the sending address may be forged, so that it looks like list e-mail. One
recently upgraded threat is the W32/Sober.P, which is sent with a
German-language subject line or message.

If you believe that your computer is infected with any virus, I recommend
that you consult the McAfee AVERT Virus Information Library, where you can find
detailed information on where viruses come from, how they infect your system,
and how to remove them. The url for this site is
_http://vil.nai.com/vil/default.asp_ (http://vil.nai.com/vil/default.asp) ; you may not see this as a
"clickable" link, since RW will convert this message to plain text.

If you believe that you have received a virus from our mailing list, please
DO NOT post a warning to the list. Please contact me at the "admin" address
(just change "L" or "D" in the list address to "admin"), and I can check it
further, especially with regard to whether it's a real threat or a hoax.

Please don't respond to this message, unless you send it to the admin
address.
