You are welcome. Unfortunately this is the only information I have for your
soldier and his regiment. You might ask for help on the IL-Kane County
RootsWeb mailing list for more help from local genealogists for Wayne and St.
Charles, IL area. I no longer live in the area. The link provided with the obituary
may have other friends or relative to your soldier if they joined the same
GAR Post, Veteran 49 located in Elgin, IL. My GGGrandfather and many of his
friends and soldiers from his regiment were in that post.
The Kane County and Elgin Genealogical Societies have been very helpful to
people looking for information on family members and the Gale Borden Library in
Elgin, IL has a lot of old newspapers that have been very helpful tracing my
family and relatives lives and events during the war. One society member even
connected me to a member of my family that split off from my line over 100
years ago. By trading information, we have filled in most of our collective gaps
in knowledge around the family, the war, and our soldiers war experiences.

Good Luck and keep checking all possibilities.
